Disfluency Tips for parents

1. Reinforce your children's verbal responses

2. Please pay attention to what your child says instead of their disfluent speech, such as word repetitions or prolongation.

3. Do not attempt to directly correct the child's speech by asking 'take a deep breath' or 'speak slowly.'

4. Do not talk on behalf of your child or complete their sentences.

5. Ignore the speech disfluency of your child by not showing any facial impressions.

6. Please provide an appropriate speaking model to your child by rephrasing their disfluent sentences.

7. Children who stutter improve their speech fluency by copying the equipped appropriate model.
